‘Eye Care in Focus’ Conference 2023


The Irish College of Ophthalmologists invites optometrists, dispensing opticians, ophthalmologists, general practitioners, orthoptists, ophthalmic nurses and technicians to take part in the inaugural 'Eye Care in Focus' Conference on Tuesday 19 September.

The conference for the extended eye care team will take place from 8am - 4pm at The Gibson Hotel, Dublin, and is CME Accredited - 6 CPD Points.

Former professional rugby player Ian McKinley who lost vision in his left eye as a result of an on-pitch incident in 2010 will share his inspirational story as a keynote speaker at this year's conference.

Sessions will also be held on

  • Glaucoma, including guest speaker Dr Robert Harper Optometrist at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
  • Presbyopia and Refractive Surgery, including guest speaker Prof William Power, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital
  • Vision Impairment and Supporting Patients, including guest speakers from the NCBI and eye clinic liaison officers.

Registration Fee: €160 (includes lunch and morning refreshments); early bird rate €130 for members of the extended eye care team (before 31st July).
