COVID-19 vaccine
The Department of Health has set out provisional vaccine allocation groups. The HSE has prioritised two groups to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, these are:
- people aged 65 years and older who live in long-term care facilities – they have a greater risk of serious illness if they get COVID-19
- frontline healthcare workers – they have a higher risk of being exposed to COVID-19
We expect optometrists and opticians to be in group two as frontline healthcare workers. We will update members with more details as soon as possible.
At this stage. the HSE has said you do not need to do anything, and it will let you know when it is your turn to get the COVID-19 vaccine through advertising and invitation. Learn more.
