The budget announcement is scheduled for 1 October 2024. FODO Ireland has submitted proposals to increase eye examination fees.
The government has passed new legislation to create an auto-enrolment pension scheme, to commence in 2025. If your staff are eligible, they will be automatically enrolled, so be sure to read the details of the scheme and check your HR records.
Health information bill - update
Following drafting notes published last year, the bill has now been drafted in full. It sets requirements for the electronic transfer of patient data between different health settings, including local optical practices.
Voice of the Eyecare Provider 2024 survey
The European Council of Optometry and Optics, in partnership with GfK (a global marketing insights company), is carrying out a Voice of the Eyecare Provider 2024 survey to assess current eyecare practices and emerging trends across Europe.
Members are encouraged to complete the 10-minute survey.
ICO Eye Care in Focus Conference
The Irish College of Ophthalmologists Eye Care in Focus Conference 2024 takes place on Tuesday, 1 October at The Gibson Hotel, Dublin, from 8am to 4pm.
World Sight Day takes place on Thursday, 10 October focusing on the importance of eye care in young people.
