Budget 2025

The Budget 2025 announcement takes place on 1 October, with departmental announcements in the weeks following, and an election likely soon after.

FODO Ireland has submitted proposals to the Departments of Finance, Health, and Social Protection, calling for the budgetary support to deliver long-awaited ministerial commitments to increase eye examination fees.

Daniel Hodgson, FODO Ireland's head of policy, said: "While there has been a lot of speculation about the upcoming budget announcement, FODO Ireland will be looking out for one thing - budget to deliver the ministers' commitments to increase eye examination fees.

"These fees have fallen behind and not yet recovered from FEMPI - this needs urgent attention and we're hopeful the ministers will listen to our evidence. With the right budgetary support, we can protect eye health, improve patient outcomes and reduce the long-term costs to the state of avoidable blindness."
